FIN MINUTE (Friends in Need Information Item)
Hope all is going well and you are enjoying the summer. The FIN Minute for
this quarter gives you something to think about as you enjoy the shade.
Possible changes in medical insurance plans, as a result of the recently passed
health plan, are still being defined and discussed. Prepare yourself for options
you may have during the open enrollment period in November by knowing the
provisions of your current plan. Try to understand what other plans may offer
and compare with what you have. Take time to read the fine print in the plans
you are considering. If you need help call Medicare, 1 800 Medicare (1 800 633
4227) or your State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP). You can get
their phone number from Medicare. If you have a computer you may want to visit
the Medicare website, www.Medicare.gov .
While all of this is being sorted out, do everything in your power to stay
healthy. The Dow Retiree Health Empowerment Program is directed to this effort.
In the May/June issue of AARP magazine, "Dr Oz's 6 months for getting healthy"
is worth reading. Pay particular attention to Month 5. This is an issue that is
very important but often times overlooked. Share your concerns, understanding,
and questions with your friends.
Best wishes and looking forward to seeing you in Charleston for the Reunion
October 1st and 2nd. The response has been good. Get your reservations in early.
