The Florida Carbide Reunion will be held on Friday March 12 and Saturday March 13th, 2010 at the Doubletree Hotel Tampa Westshore Airport, 4500 West Cypress St, Tampa FL

An informal happy hour and Carbide mixer will be held on Friday evening.

On Saturday various activities and presentations will be occurring all day and a grand banquet and prize presentations in the evening.

In keeping with our past traditions you are invited to join with your fellow Carbiders and renew old aquaintances and at the same time enjoy the great Florida weather in March.

The price will be $15.00 per person. More information is available on the Future Reunions  menu item at left along with a link to print a reunion reservation . Please complete the form and remit with a check for the proper amount to the address on the form.

The committee requests that you send in your form as soon as possible in order to assist in planning reunion activities and to assure that the reunion is a success.

FIN MINUTE (Friends in Need Information Item)
We are in a New Year and many of us are still observing our New Year's Resolutions, but some have fallen by the wayside. Many things change and we all need a plan for unexpected events. If you had a resolution to plan for future events and you haven't done it, or you did not have that as a resolution, it is never too late to develop one. For starters talk with your spouse about your pension, medical insurance, and company life insurance if something happens to you, and who to contact. Other companies should have a contact number for their retirees. This is the best source of information for these subjects. For anyone receiving, or wishing to receive, communications from Carbide Retiree groups fill ou and submitt the CRC registration form to make sure you will continue getting announcements and newsletters. The next task is to talk with your spouse and children about possible future needs. Make sure they have access to your personal records. Consider the need for different documents such as power of attorney and medical directives. Many of us need help managing our affairs, or may need help. It is better to discuss this before it is forced upon us.

Finally, if you are not participating or involved in activities as simple as getting out and visiting with friends for a chat, try it. Research has shown just a simple activity as walking and interacting with others is beneficial. Take it step farther and become involved with other retirees and participate in the Dow Retiree Health Empowerment Program and urge others to join with you. All retirees can be participants in the program and it has proven helpful.
